Stephen Tee
Director LLB
Stephen has more than 40 years of experience, primarily in Civil Litigation, Family, Property and Employment Law. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal and appears in the High Court and District Court and various Tribunals on a regular basis. He has also appeared in numerous arbitration hearings and mediations.
His emphasis is upon problem solving by providing cost effective solutions. Stephen is married to Cristine and has three children. In his spare time Stephen enjoys surfing, diving, fishing, yoga and the occasional game of golf.
Anne Beeson
Associate
BA/LLB
Anne graduated BA/LLB Auckland University 1997.
Anne is a lawyer with over 20 years’ experience. She practices in all aspects of private client work, with special expertise in Family Trusts / Estate Planning, Elder Law and Deceased Estate Administration. She has lived on the North Shore all her life (apart from an OE in London) and went to Westlake Girls High School. Her family keeps her busy, but in the spare time she does get, Anne can usually be found in the garden or on a boat.
Jo Bentley
Senior Registered Legal Executive
Jo has been working in the legal industry for over 25 years. Jo’s experience is in Residential Conveyancing, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney and Trusts. She enjoys getting alongside our clients and working to achieve results.
Jo is a busy mother of three and her weekends are spent usually on the side of a sports field or pool somewhere watching her kids play their various sports. When Jo has the opportunity to escape, she enjoys running, walking her dogs, Leroy and Meibel, at the beach, and cycling. Jo and her husband Phil share a love of outdoor activities.
Jill Hood
Senior Registered Legal Executive
Jill joined our team in April 2024, bringing over 30 years of legal executive experience with her. Jill began her studies overseas as a legal executive in the United Kingdom. While Jill has previously worked in general conveyancing, she’s shifted her focus to assisting Anne Beeson with the administration of estates and helping our clients with occupation right agreements for those wanting to move into retirement villages.
Jill enjoys taking her dog, Jetty, for a walk spending time with her horse, Louis, and her alpacas, Katie and Dexter. She enjoys gardening, reading, and spinning Katie and Dexter’s fleece, which she uses for knitting.
Cristine Tee
Trust Account Administrator and Practice Manager
Cristine has worked with Morton Tee since 2005 managing the Trust Account Administration and all areas of Practice Management. Cristine works closely with Stephen to implement and maintain procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the firm and the wellbeing of the team.
A passion for yoga and lifestyle wellness enables her to balance a busy family life and run a Retreat company specialising in retreats to the Cook Islands.
Caroline Pope
Legal Assistant
Caroline is likely to be your first point of contact with Morton Tee. In addition to reception and secretarial duties, Caroline supports our legal team in all areas of estate administration and conveyancing. Caroline has worked in law practices, large and small, for over 40 years as a Legal Secretary and has been part of the Morton Tee team for over 10 years.
In her spare time Caroline enjoys spending time with her grandson, keeping fit with Zumba, and is a keen rugby supporter. She lives on the North Shore where she has raised her family but she is still a good Welsh girl at heart.
Horia Thompson
Legal Intern
Horia is a fourth year Law (Honours) / Commerce student at the University of Auckland, and directly assists Stephen with legal research and court material preparation. Horia is focused on producing quality work, and learning as much as he can while doing so.
Horia plans to expand on his commercial interests later in his legal career. Horia is an avid fitness goer, and in his spare time he enjoys weight training, running, skiing, and Muay Thai.
John Morton
LLB
John founded the firm with Stephen in 1986. After 40 years with Morton Tee, and over 50 years as a barrister and solicitor, John has retired from full-time practice. John has been an essential part of our team, and the heart of our firm for many years, and is always happy to pop by our offices.
While John has retired, he still keeps in regular touch with the team, maintains trustee appointments, and happily collects our mail.
Since retiring, John enjoys spending time between his home in Takapuna and Bach at Orapiu on Waiheke island often with a book in hand.
Maisie
Client Liaison
Maisie is the company client liaison officer and brings with her 15+ dog-years of legal experience (2 human years).
Maisie assists Caroline with welcoming our clients and breaking down our cardboard for recycling. In her spare time, Maisie enjoys taking her owners, Stephen and Cristine, for long walks on the beach and playing fetch with her ball.
